🌿 Gloxinia erinoides (Semmannia erinoides)

Gloxinia erinoides is a unique species-type gloxinia prized for its delicate, smaller flowers and graceful growth habit. Unlike the large, velvety blooms of florist gloxinias, this variety offers a more refined look with airy blooms and attractive foliage—perfect for collectors and anyone who loves unusual gesneriads.

✨ Pro Tip: This species can stay active longer than typical gloxinias and may not go fully dormant if kept warm and in good light—making it an easy and rewarding addition to your indoor plant collection.

🌞 Sunlight

Bright, indirect light is ideal for healthy growth and flowering. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the leaves, but provide enough brightness to encourage blooms.

💧 Watering

Water when the top of the soil begins to dry, keeping it lightly moist but never soggy. Do not allow the plant to sit in water, as the roots and tuber are sensitive to rot.

🌱 Soil Mix

Use a light, well-draining mix such as African violet soil with added perlite and a touch of orchid bark. Good airflow in the soil is key to keeping the plant thriving.

🌿 Fertilization

Feed lightly every 3–4 weeks during active growth with a balanced fertilizer at half strength. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this plant prefers a gentler feeding schedule.

🌡️ Temperature / Humidity

Thrives in temperatures between 65–80°F with moderate humidity. While it appreciates higher humidity, it adapts well to typical indoor conditions with good airflow.
