🪴 Codonanthe Care Guide
Codonanthe is a cascading member of the African Violet family and a tropical epiphyte native to Southeastern Brazil. In the wild, it grows in trees without soil and has a unique mutual relationship with ants—its seeds resemble ant eggs, which ants carry to their nests. There, the seeds germinate, strengthening the ant colony’s structure while benefiting the plant's dispersal.
With the right care, Codonanthe blooms from spring through fall, producing charming tubular flowers. Using LED grow lights (10–12 hrs/day) can extend the blooming season indoors.
☀️ Sunlight
🌤️ Bright indirect light is ideal.
💡 For optimal blooms, provide 10+ hours daily. Supplement with LED grow lights if needed.
💧 Watering
💧 Let the top of the soil dry between waterings.
🌫️ Mist the leaves occasionally to increase humidity.
🪴 Use well-draining soil—Codonanthe dislikes soggy roots.
🌼 Fertilization
🧃 Use a balanced liquid fertilizer (NPK 8‑14‑9).
🥄 Apply a weak solution twice monthly during the growing season.
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
🌡️ Ideal range: 65°–80°F (18°–27°C)
⚠️ Avoid temps below 45°F
💧 Prefers 50%–60% humidity
